Oxfordshire County Council & Viridor are Determined to Build the Incinerator
On October 19th 2009 Oxfordshire County Council’s Planning Committee rejected Viridor’s application to build an incinerator at Ardley Quarry, Virdor has subsequently appealed. The appeal for the FIRST application starts on Tuesday 6th July. Viridor has now submitted a SECOND application that is similar to the first. Oxfordshire County Council has accepted and validated this SECOND application and the “extended” five week public consultation period finishes on Thursday 8th July 2010.
As ‘WE’ are not a massive commercial organisation it is another huge battle to fight, everyone’s help is required to put a stop to this SECOND application that will change this part of North Oxfordshire forever.
To stop this application slipping ‘under the radar’ we need your help again!
People Power again CAN influence this second application!
Please ACT on this information & contribute by email, phone call, letter or all three.
Even if you have written before you must write again as this is being viewed as a separate application!
Letters MUST arrive before THURSDAY 8TH JULY the end of Consultation
In all honesty your letter does not have to be that different to any sent previously. However, they do have to state the new planning application number. (see below) Your letter can just state that you object, but the more reasons you give the better.
As well as your own concerns you may wish to include some of the following points:-
A) Development in open countryside.
B) A building totally out of character with the surrounding landscape.
C) Pollution of air, soil and water.
D) Increased traffic congestion and resulting greater risk to safety.
E) No restriction on importing waste from neighbouring counties.
F) Possible long term adverse health effects.
G) The environmental conflict of the NW Bicester Eco-Development and its proximity to an incinerator.
H) Once completed we will be locked into a thirty-five year contract with no break clause. Spanning 3 generations this must be considered as permanent. Viridor maintains this time scale represents a “temporary” facility.
I) Proposed operator has no experience of incineration on this scale in the U.K.
J) This application is extremely similar to the previous Viridor one, thrown out by Oxfordshire County Council’s Planning Committee on 19th October 2009
K) The technology chosen is already somewhat out-of-date & will only age as the 30 years pass.
